wonder woman
'MultiVersus' is a real contender for Nintendo's platform fighter crown
Wonder Woman is a Tank character; she's designed to whittle down enemies through attrition and protect her allies, but she doesn't deal much damage. Finn, from Adventure Time, is an Assassin, which means he's faster and hits harder than other heroes at the expense of being significantly squishier. Together, Wonder Woman and Finn make a dynamic duo. Wonder Woman can use her Lasso of Truth ability to pull an enemy toward her or to yank Finn away from a ring out. Finn can use his Sweet Deals! ability to passively buff his and Wonder Woman's movement speed.
Monolith is making a Wonder Woman game
Wonder Woman will be starring in her own game developed by Monolith Productions, a studio best-known for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War. The new game was announced at The Game Awards on Thursday. Monolith Productions describes the game as a "single player open-world action game will introduce an original story set in the DC Universe and allow players to become Diana of Themyscira in the fight to unite her Amazon family and the humans from the modern world." It will be a third-person, open-world action game, and it will also feature the Nemesis System made popular in the Middle-earth games that lets you build connections with friends and foes in the game. However, we don't know when the game might come out, or even a release window. Wonder Woman has had a resurgence lately due to Gal Gadot's portrayals of her in the Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman 1984, and other movies in the DC Comics universe.

The 24 Absolute Best Movies of the 2010s
Over the past 10 years, thousands of movies have hit the world's multiplexes. It's nearly impossible to watch, let alone review, all of them. Yet, looking back over the past decade, it's easy to recall the ones that left indelible marks. The ones that caused audiences to leave the theater gobsmacked (or heartbroken, or mind-blown). For us at WIRED, this list (in chronological order) represents those movies. Not everything here is a genre film--our specialty--but there are probably more sci-fi, fantasy, and comic-book movies here than on any other best-of roundup.

'Captain Marvel' Shows How Trolls Lost Their Edge
Captain Marvel's $455 million opening weekend is an enormous, expensive failure. Not for Marvel, or fans of superhero movies, or people whose opinion seems to matter. Trolls have been trying to sabotage Captain Marvel's success since the first trailer dropped last September. So persistent and numerous were these trolls in their "review bombing" that Rotten Tomatoes changed its policies to prevent people from rating a movie before its release, and YouTube altered its search algorithm to uncouple star Brie Larson's name from the smears. Captain Marvel's box office performance has led many to say that the movie "defeated" or "conquered" the trolls--and the trolls certainly did lose.

'Justice League', Rotten Tomatoes, and DC Fans' Persecution Complex
The most recent episode of Rotten Tomatoes' new movie-review series, See It/Skip It, opened not with a rave, nor a thumbs-down, but a semi-apology. "We've seen the conversations online about the Justice League Tomatometer," co-host Jacqueline Coley told her Facebook Watch audience, "and we get it: You guys are passionate about this film. But we hope everyone understands the only thing we're trying to do is add context and conversation around the Tomatometer, and not just give a number." What's Zack Snyder Been Doing Since He Left Justice League? It was an odd, stilted start to what's supposed to be a breezy movie-chat show (the phrase "context and conversation around the Tomatometer" sounds like something a drunken Babelfish bot might spit out).

The Ridiculous "Justice League" Could Have Been So Much Worse
"Justice League" opens in theaters today.Courtesy of Warner Brothers. Once upon a time, in the long long ago, this bad guy from a lava planet comes to Earth with these three magic boxes and tries to turn our pretty blue marble into a red marble, but is defeated by some people who live in the sea (Atlanteans), some warrior women who live on an island (Amazons), and "the tribes of man" (you, me and the bourgeoisie). The bad man escapes and loses these three precious boxes he really adores. One goes under the sea, one goes to the island, and then the humans bury one in some ditch in a forest. Are you still with me?

Fans are going crazy at director James Cameron's announcement that Linda Hamilton, the first actor to portray the fan-favorite Connor in the "Terminator" franchise, will be returning to the world of killer robots. A reveal that he championed due to Hollywood's total lack of roles for women action heroes over the age of 50. Which leads us to ask, has James Cameron actually seen "Wonder Woman?" New "Terminator" franchise director Tim Miller (formally from "Deadpool") and Cameron hosted a filmmaker discussion on the Paramount lot to give an update on all things skynet.

'Transformers' breaks down at box office with $69-million debut
"Transformers: The Last Knight," the fifth installment in the blockbuster franchise from Michael Bay, may have topped the weekend, but all the robot-smashing has gotten a bit rusty at the box office. The Paramount film, which opened Wednesday, took in $45 million in the North American box office over the weekend, placing it in the No. 1 spot ahead of returning titles, "Cars 3" and "Wonder Woman." That's just slightly below expectations and well behind its predecessor, "Transformers: Age of Extinction," which opened with $100 million over three days in 2014 -- making "The Last Knight" the first film in the franchise not to open to $100 million or more. The Gal Gadot-starring "Wonder Woman," meanwhile, made another $25 million over the weekend, pushing the film well past the $300-million mark. Disney/Pixar's "Cars 3" also took in $25 million, helping it inch closer to the $100-million mark.
